Standing desk days

Oh, the frazzled feeling of not being able to do what you planned. No zumba to youtube videos during nap, no shower for your (also) frazzled hair, and that increasing discomfort in your lower back because Little Man is growing like a weed and is oh so heavy to carry around.
But hear the soft sound of him finally being able to breathe through his nose because he's upright. (nasty cold) Feel that soft chubby cheek by your neck.  Be grateful that there is one place that he is comfortable right now, and that this too shall pass. And be oh, so grateful that at this stage you aren't also chasing a toddler around like some moms are. And grateful that nothing major NEEDS to get done today. Except maybe folding that laundry in the dryer. Or that mopping of the kitchen floor you've needed to do for the last week (or two or three?).  Meh, that'll come later. Right now I've got the cajon on top of the dining room table, and at this makeshift standing desk I'm catching up on long overdue blogging. Maybe I'll also do some nursing continuing education that I haven't been able to sit at a computer long enough for these days. Keep sleeping sweet baby. Get better. I want my cheerful, calm, curious monkey back.

Garden time (almost)

It's the start of something I hope will be beautiful. :) A 4x4 square foot garden. We went to Home Depot, bought some wood, deck screws, and bags of peat moss, garden soil, vermiculite, and compost. Of course, this was after a LOT of research this winter. :)

Soon we should have veggies for that handsome, hard-working man who wants a food garden! (My flower pots weren't enough for him. So here goes this adventure!)

Spring!

Mommy... don't you think me with all these flowers is a bit girly?!?!
That's all right... I'll just pick some for the ladies. ;)
Oh, my sweet boy. You're not really sitting yet. But you do an okay job balancing for the camera!! :) I couldn't resist. Spring here is so pretty. We live on Blossomwood Drive... and in this our first spring here, we really see how aptly named it is. White, tiny blooms on the trees lining the whole street. And then I found this patch of purple wild flowers in our neighbors back yard. (Shh, don't tell them we snuck in through their open gate in the back and shot some photos!) Quite a contrast to the days of spongy mud and brave dandelions in Russia. Somehow not as effortlessly gorgeous as the tulips in Istanbul either, but that may be my itchy feet talking. In those days I didn't have this adorable boy with those chunky cheeks, so I'll take this for now!
Together we will weather these snotty noses, sore throats, and drool for days that somehow became more than allergies and turned into your first full-fledged cold. Right?!
